In the Spirit of Healing
Laura Davis: Author of "The Courage to Heal" Workbook, and co-author of "The Courage to Heal."
“The Courage to Heal,” and in particular “The Courage to Heal Workbook” was integral in my healing process. Karen Fisher, my therapist, insisted I read the book and do the workbook. During the tranquil autumn days of 1989, my soul was ripped. This book and the workbook, with Karen’s compassionate professional experience, kept me alive. In many ways, I was the survivor emerging from the cave, overcome and blinded by the truth of my reality.1
This past summer, I looked through my workbook. The one I wrote all over then lugged into Karen’s office. At one point, I was going into her office every day.
This summer, after reading through my workbook, I gazed out the window and thought I grateful I am to Laura Davis for this work. I found her online, she’s still writing and is helping other writers find their voice.
I quickly signed up for her e-mail list, and then jotted her a note of thanks.
Last week, I received an eloquent and beautiful e-mail back from her. Yes, from the Laura Davis. This is part of what she wrote:
April, I definitely remember your book. I felt it was so valuable when it came out and we recommended it in the back of The Courage to Heal in our resource guide for many, many years. I’m sorry about your co-author, but am glad you’ve taken the time and energy to republish the book. I know how hard it can be to return to a book you’ve already written and released...so good for you! I know it will help many many women. Thank you for continuing the legacy of survivors who contribute to pass the healing on to others.
Thanks for sharing your good news—and your thanks!
In the spirit of healing,
Laura
I’m honored and deeply humbled to receive this personal note from such an impactful survivor. She has helped millions of us.
To my beloved survivors, please continue to heal and pass the healing on to others.
