You are "all that is infinite which is yes."
a butterfly flaps its wings ....and back to earth housekeeping
Friday, the proof arrived. The book looked good. I sent the acknowledgement back and we are good to go. For several minutes I gazed out the window. Words of an ee cummings poem came to mind:
i thank You God for most this amazing
day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes
(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun’s birthday; this is the birth
day of life and of love and wings
all that is infinite which is yes.
Yes.
This re-release wasn't easy for me. Sometimes, I felt like I was going "back." The day the book came out in 1992, I bought my own copy, and put it on the shelf for a very long time. It was hard to take it down and open it again. However, as you'll read in the re-release, it was imperative I do so. I absolutely know it's the right thing to do.
In my heart, it feels like a giant cog in my universe snapped in place. It's done. I did my part. A butterfly has flapped its wings....
And, now back to earth. The day-to-day communications, updates, housekeeping, and such with my feet firmly planted on the ground:
Yes, you can still get the book cheaper, per your substack subscription. We had a request for the ability to order more than one copy, my web guy is working on that, and it should be available soon. Also, we had a request to be able to send checks. If you prefer to send a check, please send a note to
Also, we added more endorsements and resources to the PaperdollsCowboyBoots.com site. That site was built primarily to provide a cost-effective way for the substack members to get the book. There was some important information that was in the original books that didn't make the cut for the re-release. Example: The original books had pages of further reading material, and resources for help. We decided to put that information on https://paperdollscowboyboots.com/resources Also, we added some important phone numbers and websites where you can get help. I'm sure we missed some, please complete the form at the bottom of the resources page--so we can continue to build a nice library of resources for you.
Next, we added an extra page on the website for endorsements and therapeutic commentary.
Understanding the Healing Process by CARLA WILLS-BRANDON, M.A., P.A., appeared in the 2nd edition of Paperdolls: A True Story of Childhood Sexual Abuse in Mormon Neighborhoods (1993). Carla Wills-Brandon's article didn't make it into the re-release, however, when I re-read it I realized how helpful it could be. Hence, it's there for you now.
And, finally, well, when I have a low self-esteem day, I’m pretty sure I’ll read those endorsements. During a low moment now, I have a plan to do certain things to take care of myself: Write, walk in nature, go skiing, listen to relaxing music, and the like. Now that some of the recent endorsements are published, I decided that if I'm having a low self-esteem day, I might "Read the endorsements" to help shake my down mood. They are wonderful and I am so thankful.
My friend, the Contractor, (you'll read more about him in the re-release) said to me yesterday, "The thing is, you're not different than anyone." He was stumbling with his words. But I took it to mean, you've done this great thing, this book, and you are just like the rest of us." When he said it, I smiled. I am no different than anyone. If I can do it, so can you.
You are "all that is infinite which is yes."
