The Stock Market
Is easier to understand than human behavior
There might be many therapists who disagree with my statement that the stock market is easier to understand than human behavior. I try to have empathy and understanding, but I cannot understand how someone could abuse a child (or anyone for that matter).
I gave up long ago, trying to understand abusers, sexual predators, and particularly pedophiles. I defies basic biology,1 especially the premise that the propagation of our species is paramount.
Many parents would die for their children. That statement, that parents would die for their children fits the theory that the propagation of our species is paramount.
The Market is Easier to Understand
The stock market is almost as simple as understanding the weather. With the caveat that there are humans running trades for those big institutions. Many refer to the big institutions as the “market makers.”2.
The big institutions make money 90% of the time.
The big institutions make money 90% of the time. Individuals and/or retail traders, make money 10% of the time. Think about that: The retailers are losing money 90% of the time. They are losing to the big institutions.
The key is to watch the charts and see what the Market Makers are doing. The big institutions move millions of dollars at a time. The charts3 provide many indicators and studies that show you what the Market Movers are doing. Look at the charts. Not just the price charts, look deeper at the volume, pricing efficiency, fractals, fibannci ratios and the like.
Market Barometer Report
For most of 2025, I posted the Market Barometer Report here, because it’s fun, it’s something I love, and I thought it might be helpful to survivors. The problem came when only traders and stock market geeks were subscribing. I always want this to be a place for survivors, to find hope and inspiration. So, I stopped the daily “weather reports.”
However, if you are interested in learning about what’s the forecast for the market4, please remember, you have resources here.
For Paperdolls.Today Subscribers Only
If you are a survivor, and have a keen interest in learning about the market, in particular what might be happening in the market a couple of days in advance (like the weather report or a Market Barometer), shoot me a note and I’ll get you in touch with the Market Barometer people. They’ve guaranteed they’ll let subscribers here receive a substantial discount, perhaps free access and subscriptions because of your affiliation with Paperdolls.Today.
I love the Market but I love Survivors More
Last week in my bravo to Alysa Liu & Elizabeth Smart, I commended both women for having fun and doing what they want to do. In that spirit, if you want to learn about the market, wonderful. If you don’t, don’t. Do what you want to do. Continue healing and you’ll find more and more joys and interests that you can pursue. Nothing will ever be as hard as the abuse you suffered as a child. Nothing. You can do just about anything you want.5
Pedophilia defies basic biology at a minimum. Morally, ethically, and the spiritual ramifications of this crime is on an entirely different scale and scope.
Occasionally, I’ve been known to call ‘em “Market Manipulators.”
Like professional magicians doing magic tricks, they try to distract us, so we don’t follow their actual moves. That’s why you must look at the charts, and pretty much ignore the news. The news usually reports after the close, and the news draws conclusions on why the market moved the way it did that day. (Or worse, sometimes the financial news is used to send the masses in totally the wrong direction.)
Right now, there is a lot of turbulence behind the scenes. Something is happening, something big.
Every time I write about doing whatever you want, I smile. I recall shortly after Karen Fisher (my therapist) was diagnosed with colon cancer. She had major surgery, and a large potion of her colon was removed. While she was in the hospital, a young intern came in and told her that she’d be able to do anything she wanted with her colonoscopy bag.
Karen had a delightful sense of humor. She looked at the young intern and said, “Anything? You mean I can get on a balance beam like a collegiate gymnast?”
The poor intern looked stunned. Karen reached over, and put her hand on the young intern’s arm and said, “I’m okay with the bag.”
So, yes, you can do quite a bit. But, maybe not anything.
