Suicide
Child abuse survivors are more at risk of suicide. But it's not predestined! This knowledge can help you avoid it.
With my post about the biology of multi-generational trauma, I issued an immediate correction on my statements:
“I just got off the phone with my professor friend. I was late to the party regarding the proof that trauma is handed down generationally. He advised me to back away from the bacteria reference because the 2014 paper on Holocaust survivors is so well vetted, studied and proven. The Gene paper is 9 years later, and that paper continued with this research on exactly how our DNA is altered by trauma, and how it is carried forth to the subsequent generations. “
Note: the sooner one can heal, the less damage is continuing in our bodies. Another STRONG testimonial backed by science for professional therapy.
I provided the scientific papers for both of those studies. See the bottom of the post https://www.paperdolls.today/p/what-makes-us-who-we-are
During the conversation with this stellar scientist, he provided a few proven studies and papers linking suicide completion to childhood sexual abuse. The science proves that suicide completers have had an inordinate amount of experiences of childhood sexual abuse.1
This correlates to the majority of early deaths and suicides in my childhood neighborhood.2
That doesn't mean if you suffered childhood sexual abuse you are destined to successfully complete suicide. It means you have a condition you need to be aware of. Talk to you therapist about it. Possibly get on some meds to help combat the changes to your DNA Methylation3. Don't be afraid. As I mentioned in the prior post, we have nothing to fear but fear itself.
There's another myth I want to address, this one is prevalent in our societal consciousness and media. The myth is that there are more suicides around the holidays. That is a MYTH.4 And, I contend that myth can be damaging. Once it enters our consciousness as fact it might feed into suicidal ideation.5 Especially for those who have altered DNA due to childhood sexual abuse.
Suicidal Ideation is NOT healthy. It's not a good way to live.
We want you here! It's not your fault. Life is extraordinarily beautiful and please trust me that you can get in a place to experience the simple beauty and miracles of everyday life.
