Yesterday, Henry1 wrote about not chasing the birds in the yard. If you read the post, you'll know that Henry is a Karelian Bear Dog. He was breed to hunt big game in Finland and Russia. Henry's grandparents were brought over to the US. They received extensive training to shepherd and herd bears, especially grizzly bears.
In an effort to reduce human-wildlife conflict, the bear dogs shepherd the bears and herd them into helicopters or trailers. Then, the bears are transported to an area that humans won't shoot 'em for being around.
My point, if Henry, with an uncanny instinct to hunt, can be taught to not chase birds, pedophiles can learn not to abuse little children.
Comparing pedophiles to dogs, might be controversial. But, last year, I compared pedophiles to noxious weeds. In that post, it alluded to the noxious weeds simply being eliminated. I'll never truly understand why one becomes and abuser. I'm thankful that there are much more courageous and smart people dealing with that issue, but I know they can change.
Even saying that a pedophile can change is controversial. Many don't believe they can. I do. If dogs can do it, so can people.
And, if I believe that if an abuser can change, let me tell you: I know that victims and survivors can change, recover, heal, and grow. The trauma will always be part of your life, but it won't be dominant. Most of the time, it will be there, but on the side. Like tucked away on a bookshelf. In your home, but on the shelf.
Henry is my dog. I am aware that he didn’t really write the post, I hope you are aware of it also. It’s all me, writing from Henry’s perspective.
I think you mean “alluded” not “eluded”.
