Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You

Yes. “Paperdolls & Cowboys” was written for you and re-released for you on January 10, 2024

Paperdolls is my gift to other survivors. Always. I tell the story in the re-release and in my missive on November 29, 2023.

"I knew better than to argue with her (my therapist, Karen Fisher) because I had a long history of minimizing myself, and she’d call me on that. I’m going to try to absorb the concept that I have done so much solid healing work and that I’m in a place to build my own beautiful life and I am free. (I’m still not sure about the one in a million bit). Then I thought about how valuable it would have been for me to have such a resource from another survivor when I was in crisis."

Many survivors are told it's their fault and they deserve it. That's wrong, and smacks of DARVO.¹ I pictured other survivors curled up in the fetal position, crying, as they dealt with the reality of the pain and betrayal. I longed that I could whisper to them, "It's not your fault. You can heal. You can get through this pain and have your own uniquely beautiful life. If I can do it, you can."

One day I was driving listening to the radio, and I heard Stevie Nick's beautiful song, "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You"² I thought all the survivors hearing the abusive nonsense and wondered, "Has anyone written anything for the survivors?"

That's when I committed to writing Paperdolls: Healing from Sexual Abuse in Mormon Neighborhoods.

I wrote this for you.
