Fun Feedback--on Market Moves--and musing on gender bias
Don't be intimidated, "Women are better traders than men." (Includes some of my cognitive bias's about the differences between men and women.)
I have quite a few men on this list, but I sense that the majority are women. This is not statically proven, but it seems that men invest more in the stock market than women. Is it because men are judged by the width of their wallet? And, women are judged by their looks and beauty? Hopefully, those last two statements are my old, outdated beliefs.
OLD BELIEFS that are entrenched in my psyche: Women are judged by their looks men by the width of their pocketbook.
It’s odd, because as far as money goes, women are better traders than men. I wrote about it here:
Women are better traders than men
I have many passions and experience in a variety of different areas. I genuinely enjoy my life and thrive various challenges. Which is a quite a stark contrast to the my struggles depicted in Paperdolls & Cowboy Boots—when even as a child I dreamt of finally being at peace in a lacy coffin.
Related but not essential to this trading analysis feedback:
Besides being better at trading, I believe women are more courageous or able to feel and express more of their emotions than men. Maybe it’s just Utah, but it seems that men give themselves permission to feel and express anger. Women give themselves permission to feel and express a deeper and fuller range of authentic human emotions.
Important for Men to Heal from the trauma of Sexual Assault:
So if my cognitive bias is correct, and men are less able to express other emotions, is that why they don’t come forward and report the sexual assault they endured as children? I personally believe the sexual abuse of children is primarily motivated by dominance and control. In my childhood neighborhood, little girls were sexually abused with little boys. There were usually 2-3 more boys being abused than little girls. Hence you can understand my cognitive bias here. In my perception, there were more little boys abused than little girls.
Back to the Feedback on the Stock Market:
So, women on this list, if you are already in the market, you’ll love this feedback. If you aren’t, but have always wanted to learn, roll up your sleeves and learn.1 Do what you want. Women are better traders than men! Don’t let some ol’ outdated societal belief stop you!
In my notes for the Market Barometer Report last night, I wrote:
Today’s Fun Feedback:
We have about two hours until the end of the trading day (4 PM EST), and I just made this video about the “little breather” the market took this morning:
That is a screen share of my desktop. I realize all the studies I use might seem overwhelming, for that I apologize. I merely wanted to show the breather the market took this morning, then its retracement to the 62% mark. NOTE: 62% is a big number with Fibonacci.
Have fun!
Drop me a note, and I can send you some educational sources I have used.
